Tony over on the freaks site is playing around with it, some sort of software tied into vimeo, users can see the embedded video clip, but he may charge €1 to download a full HD version, he's doing it for the Nit de Foc from Valencia this year.
Anyway, I think opening up the website will bring you a lot of interesting possibilities.

Interesting idea, it's a sort of "pay per view" I guess. I wish him all the best with it, FPM must have huge running costs when you take into account all the travelling he does and camera equipment etc (I'd hate to see how much bandwidth they use too). Their work, especially in the last few years is probably the best I have seen on the net, so if anyone can pull it off it's them.

Vimeo is for personal, noncommercial use only. If your intent is to use Vimeo as a hosting service for your business, or promoting a product or service, then you are not allowed to use Vimeo

Hang on, I may have translated incorrectly from the freaks site, for the premium stuff, when viewed in vimeo, he has just removed the ability to download them, but on the freaks site will be a direct link to the high quality file stored on their own servers. I know he looks into all these things very carefuly, so I'm sure he has that angle covered.

Go for it Pete, I know a few people who have shown an interest in the site then given up because they didn’t want to pay. So much of the internet is free regardless of who owns the copyright etc. Lets hope the increase traffic encourages the advertisers to stick with it.

Something that is done by another forum I frequent is a donate button where you can click through to paypal and donate to the running cost of the site.
The only downside to a free forum will be the spammers that will no doubt surface every now and again selling cheap trainers, drugs and mobile phones.
