It'll be worth keeping an eye on the story in case there are lessons for us to to learn from how and why that explosion happened. It's certainly a sad and traumatic event for so many people - from the bereaved to spectators shaken by what they saw and heard. Sad news, too, reading of the other incidents - having had to deal with youngsters up on church roofs, one of those in particular strikes a chord with me.

Very unfortunate indeed.
The whole page reads like a really bad day over there, i wonder if this is particularly worse than years gone by, or perhaps is it to be expected when so many people use fireworks on one day a year.

What we must remember (while this is tragic and my thought's go to the crew's family and friends) we all know how the media works, it's the negatives that get the hits, afterall who's interested and wants to read about how perfectly every display in the country went?!

America is a big BIG place and the entire country celebrating at once will undoubtedly bring an increase in accidents and incidents, its just statistics

Apart from Enschede, do you think that must be one of the biggest fireworks disasters outside of China?
I hope we get to hear the outcome of the investigations.

I have been trying to work out how this could happen. It was a terrible tragedy and to speculate without knowing all the details is difficult.

But I have been thinking about how we transport Fireworks and unload etc. and I am struggling to see how you would get an instant blast to cause these deaths and injuries. Unless it was all pre-fused and loose in the van or they were trying to put any fire out, you would expect to have enough warning that something was going wrong and run…..!!

It’s a sobering thought and one that will I’m sure, make us think about the risks of a van full of Pyro being unloaded.....

All very sad.....condolences to the families, a salutary reminder of just how dangerous the job is.....

Like Mike I do find it odd though that the truck went up so quickly, I hope the figure out what caused it.
