I also thought that if the Fire Service knew that 1.3G material was at a location they wouldn't enter the site at all, never mind just avoid a certain containers exact location (I know that to be true in Chesterfield)

Fire support officer Mr Wembridge's role included taking pictures at fire scenes for the media.
I'm sorry but that is just plane stupidity.

I was present at an acsent hearing a few years ago when an issue was raised by the council about fighting fires and the fire chief stated that if a fire occured on the site then his men would leave it to burn out on its own.

Now I thought this was standard procedure for firework/Explosive related fires.

I am sorry that the people in question lost their lives but if one was filming the fire for the media then i think they also need to be held responsible.

By that time, fire officials decided to evacuate Marlie Farm and withdraw, but a number of fire officers were still nearby, including Mr Wembridge and Mr Wicker.
Am i reading this correctly that they were told to withdraw but didn't

I don't think he was filming for the media, but using this as evidence for their investigations - standard procedure in most cases.

To be honest I am glad someone else opened this debate about the filming because it has been on my mind for a while. It is tragic that they lost their lives and no-one would condone any breach of storage regs that maybe caused this.

However, the Fire Service as an employer has a duty of care for their employees and if they deemed it too high a risk to send firefighters in, then these guys filming should have been no where near the scene.

Getting photos for the media or evidence gathering is not worth risking lives for, I'm sure there was plenty of physical evidence the next day to ensure convictions of any offences....

Latest news today. Looks like the defence is establishing their case. More interesting reading:

Very interesting reading. I hope the jury listen to the experts when they get involved

Very interesting indeed. Some of the defence points are things that have been going through my mind ever since the incident.
