Just when you think its all done & dusted .
Take a look at this image.
I think that picture was before the main event. It looks like the house (which was destroyed) is all in one piece.

Well not read this thread before now I live just down the road from this place yet have never dealt with them on a professional basis. I have purchased small quantities of consumer stuff from there, how ever I know the fire fighters that were killed and also know the Winters through my distant family. It’s amazing just how many stories fly around after an accident like this, some are more far fetched than some I have read on here. Now if you look at it from both sides of the argument and trust me I have heard both sides of the argument in very heated discussions and it boils down to this.

If martin and Nathan had of known it was going to catch fire and blow up would they of stored stuff un licensed if indeed it was unlicensed. No I don’t think they would of.

Also would the chief fire officer really of sent crew in to a fire against set distance rules and regulations of a firework fire if he knew it was going to explode. No I don’t think so.

Neither party would have set out to cause these deaths.

So as this is indeed a very sad event for all concerned we need to learn from it not run round looking who to blame that list could go on for miles what about the hse inspectors.
The people with more power than the police to inspect a site, surely if you are looking round a fire works store and there is an iso container there would you not ask to just see what’s in it.

right now this is no way a who’s right or wrong reply as I said I know both sides the victims and the accused so to me in my personal view its an accident I know in some peoples eyes they don’t exist but they do.

However I do have some thing to add about iso containers and how we all store fireworks if a fire was to brake out next to any iso container it would heat up extremely quickly, why don’t we insulate them 150mm celotex(insulation board) would potentially keep the inside cool enough to stop an explosion. Also remember back to chemistry and that’s basically what pyrotechnics is and you will see that certain chemicals can ignite at lower temps meaning even a store full of cat 2 could under the right may be freakish but still under just the right conditions, could do the same thing. Take a bag of flour for example no need to store that under license but used right can blow the roof of a windmill and has done.

Hope this is not against any forum rules but as I live so close thought id give my view yes that picture is pre the explosion there was nothing left afterwards no houses cars or industrial buildings

many thanks for listening Sam hill

Ps we were one of the only houses locally not to get brand new free double glazing think the window company’s were the only people to do well out of this.
