Default Cheap Excel/Rothy torches

I know it's the "off season" but I recently got advertising email from Tools4Trade where a number of us got good value Excel torches last season; they have good deals on again:

Excel torch + Prop Gas 25 quid

Rothy Superfire2 + Prop Gas 50 quid

Postage is reasonable at ~5 quid.

No affiliation with the trader but the Excel torch at that price is a no brainer for anyone wanting to give up the portfires or having a backup to their main torch, I've been very pleased with mine.

I don't think that's a bad price on a genuine Rothy either for those people that want the best.

Gentle bump as I checked for another thread, the Rothy deal is still on, the Excel seems out of stock.

Tools4trade's site seemed to glitch the other day but it's back now.

They are still doing the Excel+MAPP @ 35, but it's out of stock.

They are doing a Superfire2+Propance @ 50, and that's in stock. as is a Superfire2+MAPP @ 52 here for those of you that like the show off yellow tank instead of the cool black one.

I think that's not a bad deal for a genuine Rothy.

(My only connection is as a happy customer)

I bought this off Screwfix a while back: http://www.screwfix.com/prods/88334/...to-Power-Torch

Inferior to a Rothy - DON'T BUY ONE! I now have to buy a old an trusted weapon...

The Screwfix image looks similar to the Excel I have, tricky to say without handling.

At 25 + Gas the Excel was fine but at 40 quid without you may as well spend the extra tenner for a Superfire2 with gas.

That's the same model I have to say the least!

Used it today sweating a joint in the loft, just couldn't regulate the flame. Going back tomorrow if they will take it as a dud. Wouldn't dream of using it for pyro as would have a job trying to light it or even keeping it going.

DON"T BUY ONE!

(seasoned wick lighter )

The quality is obviously variable, mine's been fine. I've even used it for a bit of plumbing and some brass soldering. Worth the risk last year @ 25 quid, probably not @ 40 this year.

At least everyone is warned of all the places it pops up now
