Default Clearly not a H&S conscious nation.....

Tultepec, Mexico -- Residents in Tultepec, a small town just north of Mexico City, staged a spectacular firework display on Monday to pay tribute to the patron saint of firework makers San Juan de Dios during a week-long national pyrotechnics fair.

You're not wrong!

Some of the set pieces look a bit like a cross between the Valencia "Fire Parade" during Fallas and the local celebrations on Malta every week in the summer.
Just goes to prove a few sparks don't tend to hurt much. I sometimes think we go too far on the H+S in this country (and that's speaking as a H+S officer in my last job).

It's possible that that particular finger gesture means something different in Mexico to what it does here - but I don't think so. Some signs mean quite different things in different countries.... something I had to learn while working in Toxteth for the DHSS..... so many different nationalties of people there, easily offended by misunderstanding gestures etc. that other folk used! Also a subject that's interested me ever since I picked up on "Do you bite your thumb at me, sir?" in Romeo & Juliet which I studied for English O-level years ago.......

It's thought that the "flippin the bird" sign was first written about by Aristophanes, a Greek dramatist from about 2400 years ago and lauded by some as the "Father of Comedy". His play "The Frogs" is one of my favourite plays of all time.
