Default Ex Men Shun fireworks carried on

I heard when Men Shun went into administration, other companies bought the rights to some of their products and would re-make them. Does anyone know who bought what & which companies might be re-releasing some of Men Shuns old range? It would be great to find out if ones like Independence Day & Airfield Destruction were going to be made by another company

Nearly all of the Menshun stuff seems to have been re-branded as Guy Fawkes or Elite Starburst Fireworks. Diablo, Independence day are still available and look exactly the same under the new brands. Only place i've seen them in the flesh is JTF wholesale.

"Guy Fawkes" is JTF's own brand label. It's always been made for JTF by Menshun. In the past, JTF have had information sheets in their stores giving both the Guy Fawkes product code and the corresponding Menshun code. So, although JTF have their own names, it's been possible to look items up by product code in Menshun's list to see what each firework is.

I'm not sure what JTF are doing now. Maybe they've bought up Menshun stock and will label it under their own brand - is that where the Elite Starburst label's come from, since JTF didn't have that previously? Maybe JTF will have their brand made in the same factories in China and, for JTF, it'll be business as usual - leaving any surplus Menshun branded stock for someone else to buy up. Or maybe JTF will switch maker and come up with an entirely new range. Anyone know?

I half expected to see someone buy up bulk stocks of Menshun stuff and run special offers on it, but I've not seen it. So it does make me wonder if a company like JTF has done the deal.

We have had an email come from the factory in China that made the products for Men Shun but whether somone is going to start importing those products I don't know. Name of fireworks tend not to be copy written so anyone can call their products the same names as the old Men Shun products if they so wished. Regarding the old Men Shun stock, a lot got sold off early in 2009 and we had a couple of people who had some of it approach us but too expensive. I would have thought it would have appeared at short let shops or the less reputable end of the firework market but I didn' hear of any being sold so maybe it is all still in peoples warehouses?

Hopefully, if someone does choose to bring those lines back, they will bring back some of the stuff that came out in 2008- Glittering Galaxy, Moonlight Eruption (I think it was called?) etc.

They had some really cool stuff in that (2008) range, it was a shame they folded.

The "remade" stuff of 2007 (such as the new Doomsday Deterrent etc) was very poor- a rush job to meet the new spec.

Looking back too, I do miss their (old spec) cheaper cakes- Screaming Skulls , and those 19 shot hexagonal ones. Cheap and loud! To those-RIP!

Just to note, the Preston store does not stock fireworks at the moment, the reason given is "safety reasons."

Unfortunate, as some of what they sell in season is dead good- and glow lanterns for 95p is value!

Just like Moonlight Eruption but better? just a little something we have seen on test. Watch this space should be in our brochure this year.
