Default Chinese lanterns pose coastguard risk

Front page on BBC news this morning.

BBC News - Chinese lanterns 'pose coastguard risk'

Good to see the coastguard calling for sensible use rather than a ban.

I was just about to post this as well, saw the report on the Breakfast programme this morning. They had a shot of a lantern and a signal flare side by side on the screen and I have to say it was very hard to tell them apart at distance.

They also mentioned the issue with animals eating downed lanterns but did state that some companies are now going down the biodegradable route.
