I love the magnet idea. I've never actually dropped the nips down a wired-in tube yet, but I've come soooooo close on many occasions . . .

Dont magnets and copper wire produce electrcity . .

Only if the tube's rotating at high speed I believe. Haven't figured out how to do that yet.

To stop bags of cable ties emptying themselves all over the place....

Don't cut the top of the bag (or rip it open with your teeth).
Instead, you just cut a slit horizontally, half way down the bag, so you just grab one and it pulls out from the middle. No fumbling, no mess.

Can't remember who told me this one, and it took me ages to remember to do it, but its a goody.

EDIT: It wasn't THAT good!! Can someone delete the double post, pls?

Here's one for anyone still using ICI PIC (remember the good old days ??)...

For an easy way to bare it back.. stick a bit of gaffa tape on the end you want to bare & fold over leaving a small tab at the end. A sharp tug on the tab & hey presto.. cleanly bared with no breaks or crumbling !!

Try that with Mantitor and you end up with two wires

I've heard that if you get hold of the end of the outer wire with nips & pull down sharply that works but I've not tried it yet

An Army surplus screw top plastic mortar round case (sometimes available at army surplus shops) makes a great waterproof (and sturdy) container for one or two skeins of quickmatch.
