Perhaps more of an issue when doing end to end joins, but this shouldn't be a problem when, for example, splicing a series of shells for a simultaneous lift off a length of quickmatch. In the latter case the end of the QM is being lit from a passing flame front so shouldn't shrink until after it's been lit . I have done hundreds, possibly thousands, of these types of joints over the years and failures are rare.

This sounds to me very much like what was described to me a while back as "The Spanish Method". As others have said, similar principle to the X-cut method described in another thread.

I really am happy with my PBI Golds, you certainly feel more secure, comfortable and warm in the PBI Gold Tunic and Trousers, more so than in fireproof overalls, I should have invested in these a long, long time ago probably too exspensive then. Whilst searching found a really cheap supplier £10 less than I paid for mine have posted in the ebay section....

Paul mate, you are a 'Dedicated Follower of fashion'....fair play though, its not until you slip into those robust trousers and jacket that you realise just how much more protected you feel than in a proban overall.....but then you mentioned you earnt a fair bit on the side with the stripping that sold it to me, haven't earn't anything yet but there's still hope maybe???
