The best way to add pictures to your posts is to use the attachments option and upload the images directly from your PC as shown below.
You can also use pictures that you've already uploaded to the web or that you have found elsewhere on the net (see copyright note below though!)
NB. If you are a regular user of this or other forums, you may be familiar with the IMG tag option. This is currently disabled here in favour of the newer attachments facility which has several advantages, namely keeping the images stored with your posts (IMG tag images can be lost if the remote website moves or blocks them) and automatically resizing them for you so they fit the forum layout.
-------------------------------
Start writing your post and then begin the process to add pictures by clicking on the paperclip/attachments option in the editor toolbar, here highlighted in red:
Note that if you use the "Quick Reply" box to write your post, you don't get the full toolbar and won't see the paperclip. Either use the "Post Reply" button to start your post, or if you've already started in the Quick Reply box, you can click on "Go Advanced" to get into the full editor.
Once you've clicked on the paperclip, this will open the "Manage Attachments" window:
In this window you can click "browse" to locate a file on your PC (the location will then appear in the first box or you can type or paste URL of a picture from the web into the second box.
In either case, next click on the adjacent "Upload" button to upload it.
If you want to, you can then upload some more files. When you are ready, close the attachments window.
-------------------------------
If you now simply post your message, the image(s) you uploaded will be tagged on the
end of your post as attachments. But if you prefer, there is an option to insert them anywhere you like in your post.
Move the text cursor to where you want the first image to appear, and click the small 'down arrow' next to the paperclip, as highlighted below:
Click on the filename of the first image you wish to add into your post. The appropriate attachment code ({ATTACH}1234{/ATTACH})will be inserted into your post - this is then replaced by your image when you post (or preview) your message.
You can of course upload more than one image and insert them where ever you like in your post. To get back to the upload screen if you've closed it, just click on the down arrow again and then on "Manage attachments" in the drop-down list.
-------------------------------
This method can also be used to insert your own smilies - simply upload and insert them using the same method.
If your images are over a certain size, the forum will resize them for you, providing an automatic "thumbnail" image in your post which can be clicked on for a full size image.
If you do copy anything from the internet, do be aware of any copyright issues and at the very least give a credit to the original site if necessary.
