The best way to add pictures to your posts is to use the attachments option and upload the images directly from your PC as shown below.
NB. If you are a regular user of this or other forums, you may be familiar with the IMG tag option. This is currently disabled here in favour of the newer attachments facility which has a few advantages, namely keeping the images stored with your posts (IMG tag images can be lost if the remote website moves or blocks them) and resizing them to fit the forum.
Start by clicking on the paperclip/attachments option in the editor toolbar, here highlighted in red:
This will open the attachments window, where you can click "browse" to locate the file on your PC, and then upload it. If you want to, you can then upload some more files. When you are ready, close the attachments window.
If you now simply post your message, the image(s) you uploaded will be tagged on the end of your post as attachments. But if you want to, there is an option to insert them into your post. Move the cursor where you want the image to appear, and click the down arrow next to the paperclip, as highlighted below:
Click on the filename of the image you wish to add into your post. The appropriate attachment code will be inserted into your post - this is then replaced by your image when you post your message.
You can of course upload more than one image and insert them where ever you like in your post. This method can also be used to insert your own smilies - simply upload and insert them using the same method.
If your images are over a certain size, the forum will resize them for you, providing an automatic "thumbnail" image in your post which can be clicked on for a full size image.
