I've had some bounced emails back from the forum, these are PM and subscription notifications and the likes. Upon further investigation these are due to a combination of:
- Members not updating their email addresses. Please can you all check your profile and ensure your current email is listed. You can hide the email from public view and I never share them with anyone.
- Firewalls and spam blockers. On some mail accounts the forum emails are being bounced back at server level before they even get to your inbox or spam folder. There's not a lot I can do about this, quite often if a lot of members happen to be on the same ISP and the ISP then gets a load of emails it can sometimes flag them as spam
- A spammer using the same host as the new UKFR forum. The account in question was closed down, but Yahoo! in particular may still be blocking us.
As of now, I have changed the return email address to a non-existant one, so I will no longer see any bounced messages. This is in part because they're getting more frequent but mainly as I have no desire to see the contents of private messages (PM notification by email includes the message which then gets bounced back to me!). So please do take a few seconds to check your email is up to date.
If your email IS up to date, and you have enabled PM notification by email but they're not arriving, this is sometimes because your ISP sticks them in your spam folder (BT Internet in particular). In this case you will have to check your email settings. Once the email leaves the forum everything else sadly is beyond my control.
