Default Search Limits

I've noticed that the forum search facility now returns a maximum of 50 results. I'm sure it never used to. This is bugging me because I've done several searches where I've wanted to retrieve results from long ago..... and there've been more than 50 more recent results. There's an option to look for results one year ago and older..... but that still only gives 50 results working back from 1 year ago. Several times that's left me unable to get all the results that I'm looking for. I can't find any way of changing this result limit. Has anyone else found a way?

In my User CP there are some options (not search related that I know of) in which you can accept forum defaults or specify something else. But nowhere (in User CP or in Advanced Search) can I find a way of overriding the default search results limit. I'm suspecting that for once I'm being blind and can't see the obvious......

Also annoying you now have to wait 20s between searches

Just picking up on this one, having to wait between searches is far less annoying than having to wait for every forum page to load because everyone is searching

The limits are put in because the forum does not run on a dedicated server and available resources have to be shared around everyone who is browsing, so while I'd prefer everyone to be able to search repeatedly, these limits can't be removed.

I will have a look over the current settings to see if I can weight things in favour of members, ie. reduce the throttle time for logged in members and maybe offset this by increasing it for guests.

I'd quite like to INCREASE the "throttle time" for some members....

I'm not bothered by the time..... it's the number that bugs me! Sometimes I remember a subject or item has been mentioned before - maybe several years ago - but just can't fetch it with a search because I reach the 50 limit with more recent posts. And I can't always think of exactly the right search string that'll help me get there. The historic resources of the forum might as well be closed and locked up!
