Default Yellow and Red card / Warnings... Pointless posting.

Its clear from the 'Firework Brands' thread one or more users of the forum do so for their own enjoyment over contributing to relative discussion often making a complete mockery of genuine post's and the member posting.

Its really pissing some people off including myself, i'll openly admit it.

Other forums i use have a strike system or flag system, piss too many people off and your out, think it may even lock out your IP?!

Can the offender be politely warned or a similar system introduced?

What are other people thoughts, annoying you too?

An interesting thought, but one that Pete would have to decide on.

Also, can I just play Devil's Advocate for a moment....

I think this is the exchange that has brought this to a head?

Although a pretty insulting comment if it he DID know, is it maybe JUST possible that BoomBoomPow didn't realise the comment was meant as a rhetorical question to which he already knew the answer?

It's not just that one singled out comment though Andy, it's a multitude of condescending mocking remarks that are outright annoying and sometimes offensive!

And as for calling everybody Mr. This, Mr. That, anything but that actual member name, what the hells that about?!

However, yes maybe in this ONE case Stu's rhetorical question may have been seen as a straight forward question BUT was questioning Stu's competence neccessary when it is clear he is an established member of the industry?!

Couple of things to post here so bear with me.

First, Karl thanks for posting, feedback is always welcome. We have been discussing the need for more streamlined and hands-on moderation as the forum is getting busier and also we do seem to have one or two complete fuckwits posting at the moment. An infraction/points system is currently being tested and should be active soon, which will enable moderators to easily point members in the right direction and repeat offenders will have posting rights removed for a while.

However I should stress I do not moderate on the basis you can all post what you like and it is "mopped up" afterwards, so for example if you post a flame against a member no matter how wound up you are, this is also against the rules and not welcome.

Members should please use the "report post" option, it reports the exact post and member to all of the moderators and gives us a chance also to discuss the issues later, you get a space to fill in why you have an issue. We don't usually reply to these, but we do see and read them all.

If members have any wider problems or want to discuss things privately, then PM me, or email me pete@ukfr.com.

Mark, I am not aware "lots" of people have problems, certainly this must be "lots" of people who sadly have neglected to let me know they have issues so I cannot do anything about them. We all need to communicate here, if you let problems fester or keep them to yourselves this isn't helping me or the forum and does seem a bit cliquey. I'd be sorry to see you go, even though you're from Essex, if I haven't had a chance to try and fix things for you.

Finally, can all members please make an effort to post constructively, and on topic. It's a pity to see some of you still posting utter drivel despite me previously sending you a PM to remind you to keep posts on track. In the end all that happens is you will lose posting rights, and with it the chance to continue to be part of this community.

I would also like to remind retailers that (regardless of whether you advertise) thread hijacking, excessive plugging, needless and pointless links to blogs or commercial sites, etc. in the main discussion forum is not welcome. I actually find it off-putting and there does seem to be some attempts at SEO/link backs and the likes rather than genuine posting.

If anyone wants to get anything off their chest please do - but not about specific members please. Use report post or PM/email me for that as it will be treated privately.

Thanks Pete, really appreciate your reply and feedback, understand your pretty tied down at the mo

I agree it may be wrong to have targeted a specific member, a few PM's had bounced around, and well you know me i tend to say what i think, sometimes a good thing sometimes a bad thing!

UKFR is a valuable tool and resource, i feel as a forum we touch on some important topics like the consumer storage issue currently being discussed, the banter is great but most of us know the line, a system to disband the (as you put it ) FUCKWITS (great word) who cross the line and march a mile past it would make things flow that much smoother

On the whole the forum seems to run itself and the members 75% of the time self moderate but keep up the vital background work Pete
