Default More time lapse - driving at 4000mph

More experiments with time lapse, using an SLR to shoot the frames for a video clip. This is a car journey that normally takes 30 mins, condensed into 25 seconds. Not sure my camera appreciated taking 850 shots in a row!!

And is the camera controlled by software on a PC to take all the pictures?

Excellent movie Pete! For bonus speed effects try taking much longer exposures to get lovely streaky lights flying by

The Time lapse can allegedly be done with CHDK ... the alternate firmware for (most) Canon cameras. have a google to find out more ... apparantly now available for the A470 so I'm going to give it a go soon on my lil cheapie camera

Cheers,
Robin.

Oooh, interesting. My A80 is way too old, but daughter's A460 is compatible.

... and just to prove it can be done here are a couple of movies taken with my A470 running CHDK and the intervalometer.lua script today:

Journey to work including stop off to buy sarnies ... 1 frame every 2 secs, 40 odd mins in 2.5 mins

http://rb.cqr-ltd.com/g2/home2worksmallcpk.avi 35 meg, best to right clicky save!

Clouds drift by outside:

http://rb.cqr-ltd.com/g2/officecloudslo.avi 21 meg .... must investigate better codecs

All frames taken as high def 1600x1200, no way are they downloadable though! resize, rotate (because camera ended up mounted upside down ) and stitching together by virtualdub.

Windscreen mount was the most excellent fat gecko by delkin, all frames taken on ordinary auto setting, only the first frame was used for focus though.

Cheers,
Robin.

Yeah I work in another country bit of a trek I suppose but my first job was over in wales too ... back when there was only one bridge and it cost 10P!

That stop at the roundabout was lovely and gentle, honest! ... got me thinking though, the camera has an accellerometer to tell which way up it's being held ... maybe I could script something to start filming quick if the brakes are jammed on

If anyone wants to know the ins and outs of installing CHDK then ask me now while it's fresh the online docs seem to over complicate things a bit IMO.
