I'd also struggle with trilogies..... Many of my favourites either sensibly stopped with just one sequel or else successfully went beyond a trilogy. Other favourites were never going to be anything but single films - if you don't count remakes (that rarely worked as well as the original!). But then aren't some trilogies etc. just a kind of remake / reworking to cash in on the success of the original. How many were ever actually planned to be trilogies etc. to start with?

I think terminator 1 and 2 as well, the last two were terrible. Bad boys 1 and 2 are funny, they should be doing a third. Rocky films were quite good, obviously you have star wars. As for good films on their own you have things like Forrest gump, shawshank redemption, the green mile

Everyone knows that the greatest trilogy ever made was was Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Evil Dead 3, The Army of Darkness (AKA The Medievel Dead).

Yes, but which trilogy of the trilogy of trilogies? (Does that make it a Super-Trilogy?) It was originally planned as a 9 part series, with episode 4 done 1st! Weird way of working, but wonderful! I have happy memories of seeing Star Wars on first release.

But that does rather date me, doesn't it!

I suppose a good case could be made for it to have been the most influential trilogy..... after all, folk now fill in the Census forms to say their religion is Jedi - and they're seriously trying to get the Government to recognise it!

The original star wars trilogy is the best made for one reason to make the film. not like 123 made for money and Jedi is now recognised as a religion in the census, but Scientology isn't " hmm when 900 years old you reach look as good you will not"

I think in all honesty, and based on Rev's and Damuelson's posts, Star Wars 'was' a great Trilogy -

I maybe wrong, (and im not standing in town with a clip board to find out), but i reckon if you asked most under 25's, they wouldn't agree, purely because there used to much more cutting edge CGI, special effects, stunts and of course Angelina Jolie, not saying Star Wars wasn't 'for its time'.

Maybe there isn't a greatest Trilogy ever, the opinions are going to based upon likes dislikes, and the sophistication of films you have grown up to watch, which will forever change and improve.

Jeez, that's a serious post lol
