Well you have plenty of time to get to know some.

Come on then, chop chop!
Thought the whippet eaters from up north were talking about something nearer to them for autumn next year. Would hate for two events to clash would be an awful shame!

But it's cold up north and I don't like the taste of gruel, or whatever it is they eat up there.

How much space is needed for a Cat4 display (roughly) I have thought of somewhere which is ideal, if it has the right amount of space....

The place I am thinking of is the size of about 9 football pitches... and it has plenty of parking, an ideal viewing position, and it has its own bar

Second location I have thought of is slightly smaller, but backs on to fields... and again has a bar...

Well...... if you go to the member map and find my marker (in the Manchester area.... even southerners ought to be able to find that!)...... zoom in and go to satellite view...... the marker is placed on my Church. You'll see fields next to it.

I've used one of those fields before for a test firing. It might be possible to get permission to borrow one for a meet. But it'll depend on where the cattle are at the time. You'll also see the residential areas close by, so it's not an ideal location. But it is well connected for motorways and the Church has a lounge, kitchen and toilets (oh, and working heating.).... and my whisky collection would be close at hand, too.

I'm not sure that it'd be suitable for a full on pyrofest because of the residential areas. But at the end of next September I'm looking to plan some events to celebrate some anniversaries - the 25th anniversary of my ordination, the 10 anniversary of me arriving as Vicar in that church and the 125th anniversary of the laying of the church's foundation stone. Good enough reasons for a few fireworks and maybe reasons that the neighbourhood would understand and tolerate fireworks for?

Mind you, I'm thinking there ought to be some better, less populated places that could be available. I've some in mind, but don't have any personal contacts with the relevant land owners, though..... well yet.

Scoobie
Sounds good on both counts Scoobie.

Shells require 1 metre per millimetre of shell diameter, ie, 4" (100mm) needs 100m saftey clearance with the wind favourable.

Oh and I'm up for a trip to your RR, and dont worry, your wiskeys are safe with me!

I was gutted I could not attend what would have been my first Pre-GFN bash. I had to work a 14-22 shift, however, at around 20.40 I went onto the roof of the building I work in (several storeys high) at the local Water Works and there it was, I managed to watch most of the event from a superb vantage point about 3-4 miles away. Big shells were great (several seconds delay before the boom hit).
I will definately be there next year, with pyro in one hand (rest in boot) and tools in other to help set up.

Well done to all involved, regret not having any recording equipment handy.

Oh Kipper,
didn't realise you were a local! Presume you mean the new building there at hanningfield.
A pre GFN on your doorstep and you had to work. That's too bad M8. But good you saw it. Next time eh!

Marcus.
