"Are there any companies who are willing to take me on as a firer, either for the day so I can see what it's all about, or who are recruiting or offering job-based training?" is a common question here in the forum.

So, this post is intended for Pro display companies who are members of UKFR and who can help, to post details. You should include:

1. Your company name and a contact name
2. Location in the UK
3. Whether you're happy to take a member to see behind the scenes, or whether you're recruiting generally for firers etc. Are you happy to take on someone completely inexperienced, or looking for qualified firers etc.
4. Your preferred contact means - PM, e-mail, phone?

For general discussion about this subject please start a new thread either here or in the general forum.

Also, please DON'T use this post to publicise/sell commercial training (eg where a member would have to pay YOU, such as BPA courses) unless you are an advertiser.

1. Spyrotechnics, contact Stuart Hutcheson

2. Based in Chesterfield (Derbyshire) but have displays all over England

3. Quite happy for people to join us for the day, just to take a look behind the scenes but also always looking for people who are interested in taking it further and working with us longer term. We are only a small company (a baby company perhaps ) but we are growing steadily and like to give opportunities to both experienced firers and those new to the industry - obviously guys who can make themselves available for the November period are given preference

4. eMail is probably the best way to contact me - I seem to delete PM's in error when I am trying to keep the inbox from being full info@spyrotechnics.com

2. Reading (berkshire), Marlow (bucks)

3. Same as stu, happy to have people come and look around, or be trained to crew. we are pretty picky, but happy to give anybody a go ;-) Especialy interested in people from an entertainment background (not jugglers or actors, but pro lighting/rigging/sound people)..

4. PM or chrisclarke@sonningfireworks.co.uk

Again same as stu we are only a small company, but we have some cool kit and are working on placing ourselfs in a unqiue position in the industry..
