bit like the car park signs. "the management accept no responsibility for damage or theft from vehicles parked in this car park" It's not worth the sign it's printed on especially if you paid to use the car park aswell.

Don't get me started on Clamping and Parking Tickets. I've yet to pay one!

What they are stating is they are carrying out the event in accordance with their H&S policy and method statements and everything that is bolted on to them, such as proper training and risk assessing etc. If something should go wrong just by the inherent nature of the event ( cars travelling at 220 mph, explosives being lit etc) then it may not be our fault.
Basically, you have been warned and if you choose to stay then so be it, but if a wheel comes off into the crowd following a collision or a shell flower pots due to malfunction then this is outside of our H&S policy, This is when the investigation process starts as you can not risk assess these kinds of episodes, that’s why accidents happen.

That is the whole point of risk assessment to predict and prevent an accident, it is clearly stated in the programme that they do not accept liability for these accidents, yet they are supposed to asses them in the first place and keep people out of harms way,its like not having car insurance and saying i never crash why pay it. These people are putting this event on for the public they should be protecting their safety sufficiently as not to have this bit of print in their programme in the first place, Were going to set some fireworks off but if you get hurt its not our fault, not the sot of show i would have faith in.

And that is why most of the things us older generation did in school etc is now too risky for this generation to enjoy. Car/Bike racing behind 20ft steel fences 500yds from the action, firework displays miles away from the viewing area, etc etc etc.

Eliminating all risk removes all the reasons why we go in the first place. If you want to be totally safe then stay at home and watch the event on the TV........

Risk Assessments are not to eliminate risk but to ensure control measures are in place to reduce risk to an acceptable level........only way to prevent an accident is not to do the event in the first place!!
