Thank you for your honest opinion, just a little breakdown on crew rates, does this include all members: trainees, firers and lead firer.

We dont have tooo firm a structure to be honest.

If someone is being classed as (counted as) one of the display crew then they get paid, while they are being initially trained they are normally "extra" over and above the normal crew numbers.

It's down to the individual how quick they pick things up, how useful they can be on site etc etc - we don't have a hard and fast rule that says "your first five displays are unpaid" or similar.

I'm afraid we dont have a "table" for crew rates, there are many variables regarding the site conditions, type of display etc etc but we do try to be as fair as possible

cheers

Stu

Thanx stu for the info,

The reason im asking for is to get some kind of platform to work with, ive only been working in the industry for just over a year now and have only fired with one company, just wanted to see how different the pay structure was with other companies.

If we are working on a competition display where all the budget is going on pyro then generally we just pay for the crews traveling expenses, rather than the normal crew rate.

As for crew rates, once you are "capable" then we pay from £50 (local display easy site) through to approaching £200 for a lead firer on good sized display during the busy November weekend.

Hope that helps

Komodo fireworks is also around this area, We top out at 250. You also have to think about how many people are on site and how many out of them are new/experianced. I did play around once BY splitting a % of totaly running cost from a show into wages, This worked well but crew want to know exactly what they are getting.
Transport and fuel on the other hand is a whole new ball game.
