i agree a good 6" yung feng will beat a normal 8" though even yung feng prices seem to be going up every year. still worth it though.

still cant beat a good 12" / 16"

the huge cost of shells over 6 inch comes from the new regs that makes them all 1.1 i think .
i know kim not really using them cause you get as much bang from a 6" today compared to 8" of yester year and the transport cost and regs makes it not worth while

AFAIK, the threshold for "colour shells" to become 1.1 is for their diameter (or length in the case of cylinder shells) to be "equal to or exceeding 180mm".

That's the whole point of the new 7" (177.8mm) ones.
