Kimbolton have or were importing upto 10" on a special order. We had a form with the prices and you will need deep pockets....really deep pockets. They were Iqual from Spain and the 10's were coming in at £160 plus the vat each! Happy hunting and if you find any give us a shout!

I guess it depends what you call "reasonable prices" - supply and demand and all that jazz I guess

I can still get 200mm, 250mm and 300mm, however I tend not to bother given the storage/transport hassles and extra safety distances required, I go for a better quality 150mm (YF when I can get them)

Stu

p.s.

200mm = £45/50
250mm = £85/90
300mm = £120/130

Well we were getting only 2 years back 8" in at £12 a pop. Granted the quality was not YF standard but better you could put 4 up for today's prices almost!!

Are people not using 175mm/7" shells?

I was about to say that.

I was on a show a couple of weeks ago which used quite a few 7" as well as 6".

But I have to admit to a moments confusion over tube sizes!
(especially when you
a. haven't got an 8 to compare it with, and
b. people insist on using metric measurements - which I'm perfectly happy with in other aspects of life, but seem to have a real blind spot over in pyro!)

I looked at the 7" and decided I would rather spend the extra cost (new tube, larger shell) on a better quality 6"

To be fair there isn't much you cant get in a 6" nowadays from a good supplier. I cant say that i have seen 7" on many trade lists this year either, and i agree with the above, we would need to go out and buy new tubes when we can just spend a bit more on top notch 6".
